Roads’ maintenance responsibilities fall under differing governmental bodies
Some Waukegan streets are county or state roads. Some of these are maintained by the city. When you see a section of a highway like Sheridan Road that has been resurfaced from Greenwood to the Stateline but did not continue on further south to Glen Flora — this usually represents the change in maintenance responsibility. Another example is Green Bay resurfaced from Belvedere south to 176 in Lake Bluff but not north of Belvedere. Has anyone else noticed that North Avenue from Longview south to Franklin and Franklin east to Ash are in terrible condition? This will — if it hasn’t already — have a negative impact on the businesses who line this corridor. The city needs to fix this corridor and do everything necessary to support and retain these long standing community businesses. Also there are 2 public schools along this stretch. Our kids deserve better.
Buses at Gurnee schools running with two or three students

Gurnee taxpayers should know on the 20th, I got stuck in front of Warren High School by a crossing guard. And I had to wait about 10 minutes while at least 20 school buses were exiting the school parking lot. So, I’m sitting there bored. So, I’m just looking in the windows of the buses I could see in. About the first five buses heading out had two people in them. Two students. Then about five more you might have seen three, maybe four. My point is here and then they cry for more taxes. The school needs this, the school needs that and then you Democrats cry about the Green New Deal. Well, what kind of pollution is that putting out to transport two children per bus on the average. The most kids I seen on one bus I believe was six, maybe seven, and that was it. And I’m telling you, they’ve got brand new buses, they’ve got everything they need, but they just want to tax the hell out of us. They don’t worry about the environment when they’re running these buses with one or two kids in it I just thought Gurnee taxpayers should know where your money goes. Thank you.
Dogs shouldn’t be allowed in stores
In today’s paper, you showed someone from the military walking a dog in the grocery store, or by a food counter. I’m all for our military to have all the assistance they can, but dogs do not belong in the stores. I’m sorry. Especially near food. That’s disgusting. Dogs carry fleas, ticks, everything else. They go and lick things on the counters. Come on. Would you want that for your kids to eat afterward? That’s ridiculous. I’ve even seen a dog urinate on the floor in there. That’s disgusting. People don’t need to be bringing them into stores.
Beach Park needs better maintenance of roads
As someone who’s lived in Beach Park for quite some time and in this area of the community, I think it’s sad that Beach Park just talks about doing things to improve Sheridan Road and they do nothing. They track in the last couple of months, they’ve really devalued the communities, businesses that they’re putting in just to make a few pennies on a bottle of pop. I think it’s sick. We’ve got vacant lots in town that look terrible. The state even condemns that. Because if a tree falls that the state’s responsible for, they cut it and dump it back in there. The property owner should be made to clean that up and I think you would see the prices on the lots come down if they had to start investing a little money in something that they bought to make money off of. And they think they should get the prices they got 10 years ago is not going to happen. If they were having to maintain that property, I think you would see more businesses in Beach Park and you would see property at a reasonable rate that a development would come in and just because you lose a third of your business and your buying power to the lakefront doesn’t mean that they won’t open businesses. If we pass the ordinances for them to clean it up, I think you’d see a lot of improvement in the village of Beach Park, especially along Sheridan Road.
