Ads ruining TV viewing: Have you noticed how long commercial breaks are today? You are watching a movie or a sitcom, you forget what it was all about. Give the viewers a break.
Black market tests: They’re talking on the news about the virus and the tests. When they were first available, these scammers bought a bunch of them at one time and they go to different corners offering them for sale, jacking up the price. They’re not fooling anybody. We need police to stop people and ask for their peddler’s license to stop the black market and gauging. Just take them to jail.
Manchin knows best: I only wish I had the self-confidence of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin. How reassuring it must be to go through life knowing you, and you alone, are right all of the time.
Hoping for change: 2021 is another year lost to COVID, gun violence, climate change and political upheaval. Here’s hoping for something far better in 2022, including a cease-fire between warring parties in Congress and long jail terms for the Jan. 6 insurrectionists.
Legislator carjacked: Sorry to see that Sen. Kimberly Lightford’s car was hijacked from her. I wonder how she will feel if these thugs are not first-time offenders and were out on low or no-cash bond that she and other lawmakers passed last year, giving them a break and letting them back out.
Thankful for Speak Out: A big thank you is the order for giving all the contributors to the Speak Out column the opportunity to voice their opinion on various subjects. If we voiced our opinions in person, some of us might be punched in the nose or slapped in the face. Others might be kissed on the cheek or patted on the back. 2022 is fast approaching and we contributors have much to say, so let’s get started. I’m wishing everybody a happy new year.
Works both ways: My view of the vaccine mandate is I don’t mind it as long as it is fair. If patrons of restaurants, movie theaters and other venues have to show proof of vaccination in order to enter the establishment, then the staff of those establishments must also show that they are vaccinated too! This should make for a truly COVID-19 free zone.
No telling what they’ll find: The James Webb Space Telescope is now launched, and in six months will start operations that will allow us to see far back in time toward the beginning of the universe. It will also search for exoplanets. In that search it might even find Earth 2, where all the Trumpsters, COVID-19 deniers, anti-vaxxers, seditionists, believers in the big lie, flat Earthers and anti-Democrats live. If it does find it, we will definitively not want to go there.
