Medically challenged: How did Ron Johnson of Wisconsin ever become an adult much less a U.S. senator? You’d think his lack of sound medical fundamentals would have done him in years ago.
Too little too late: Poor Donald Trump supposedly had to be consoled by Bill O’Reilly after being booed by his fans when he said he had been vaccinated and boosted. How many millions of people in our country have had to be consoled because someone they loved was among the highest death rate in the world from this miserable disease? Trump set the tone of our pandemic response. He has shown absolutely no regret or remorse and certainly has offered no consolation to anyone.
Paying more, getting less: Who the heck do they think they’re kidding? The 5%-plus Social Security raise is such a joke and a punch in the gut. Our Nicor gas bill doubled, our Medicare premium and deductible went up, our medication premiums went up almost $20 a month, you walk out of the grocery store with less but pay through the nose, and it doesn’t stop there. And forget about your 401(k) or your IRA. This administration is absolutely awful. They aren’t helping the seniors or the middle class. Not our homeless or our veterans.
No more prime time: It surely seems that some feel Christian holiday epic movies are getting less importance. In the past holiday seasons, epics like “The King of Kings” and “Ben Hur” were always shown during prime time TV viewing. This year, I noticed they were on starting at noon and ending at 5 p.m. Why so early? Are we getting away from our Christian values?
It’s not a magic shield: Vaccinated people can spread COVID-19 as easy as the unvaccinated. I was in the checkout line this week when a unmasked person got a little close. When I asked him to step back, his response was he was vaccinated. Educate yourself by going to the CDC website.

Calk no sterling character: Here we go again. Banker Stephen Calk gave Trump’s buddy, Paul Manafort, $16 million in unfounded loans from a bank that soon went under. He is now a felon, and his lawyers are arguing for a noncustodial sentence. Calk, he of a thoroughly decent and law-abiding life, he of good deeds and sterling character, according to his lawyers. Seriously? Prosecutors want at least four years in prison. Based on the amount of money involved, Jessie and Sandy Jackson really got treated unfairly for stealing a measly $450,000.
