Double standard: People complain about President Trump and Jan. 6 but fail to say that when insurrectionists were storming into the Capitol, President Trump was still making his speech. Also, Pelosi and radical socialists don’t care about Democracy. I don’t see anyone complaining about people who rioting and setting buildings on fire and looting in 2020. The Biden administration and incompetent Justice Department are not arresting and putting people in jail for that.

‘Deeply concerning’: Despite documents and text messages, another House vote for contempt, this time on Mark Meadows, was overwhelmingly partisan. It’s not unfair to think Donald Trump and those who were in the White House on Jan. 6 are not the only ones with secrets to hide. No matter whose side you’re on, the possible goings-on amid our elected officials and the sluggishness of the Justice Department to act should be deeply concerning.

Assess blame fairly: Your hate of Democrats is quite evident. Trump was not blamed for natural disasters when he was president. Everyone knows the president doesn’t control the weather. However, he could be blamed for his inadequate response to those disasters.

Felonious politicians: I believe that you reward the good and punish the bad, but we’ve failed miserably when it comes to one group. We need to punish politicians for failure to govern. I don’t just mean not reelecting them. The punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Virtually all the bad things going on in this country are as a result of politicians not governing. I’m not sure how to fix it but the punishment must fit the crime. My suggestions would be too draconian. We need to make failure to govern a felony.

Is this an option? I remember the “balloon boy” hoax of 2009. A family led authorities to believe that their son was a stowaway in a homemade mylar balloon that was flying across the Colorado sky. All kinds of resources were deployed in an attempt to locate the balloon and rescue the boy. As it turns out, the boy was hiding safely in the attic. It was all a publicity stunt. I wish we could put Jussie Smollett in a balloon and let him float away. If he floated to Cuba, it would be no great loss.

More tickets, more cash: It’s unfortunate that the state does little to enforce speeding laws on our interstates. Real enforcement would help significantly reduce Illinois’ enormous debt and make the highways less dangerous.
