Eliminating Metra parking lot permits not the answer

Naperville City Councilman Paul Hinterlong wants to eliminate Metra train station commuters’ long-awaited and coveted parking permits.

Commuter parking has been an issue for 35-plus years. News flash: The city could have built a parking deck on its parking lot property years ago; it would have paid for itself many times over.

At least Jennifer Louden, the city’s deputy director of Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development department, exhibits a more reasonable approach to the problem.
