Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary School District 181 kicked off the school year on Monday, Aug. 23 for the first day of full-time, in-person learning.

“We were thrilled to welcome everyone back on Monday. As I was talking with students at each of our schools, you could feel their excitement about being back in the classroom, seeing their friends, and meeting their teachers. We’re looking forward to another great year.” said Hector Garcia, Superintendent of D181.

District officials have been closely monitoring the ever-evolving guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health ahead of the 2021-22 school year.

Per Gov. Pritzker’s executive order, masks will be required at all D181 schools.

Garcia said that the main goal for the start of the school year is to ensure in-person learning and limiting interruptions, which includes possible quarantines for close contacts. Students and staff who are fully vaccinated or those that can provide proof of COVID-19 infection within the last 90 days, will not have to quarantine or be identified as close contacts.
