A Naperville man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for robberies he committed at an Arby’s restaurant in Naperville and a dry cleaner in Woodridge, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Ryan Dougherty, 31, of the 1900 block of Nutmeg Lane, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of felony aggravated robbery. He was sentenced Thursday by Circuit Judge Margaret O’Connell, a DuPage County news release said.

“At sentencing, the state also proved that Dougherty was responsible for four additional robberies in the area,” the release said. The dates and locations of those robberies were not disclosed.

Dougherty was arrested on Jan. 12, 2018, less than two weeks after the Jan. 3, 2018, dry cleaner hold-up, and about six weeks after the Dec. 3, 2017, Arby’s robbery.

In each case, he presented a note stating he had a gun and then displayed what appeared to be the butt of a gun to employees. The gun was later found to be a “plastic, realistic firearm replica,” the release said.

Dougherty will receive credit for the 1,310 days he has already served while in custody at the DuPage County jail. He will be required to serve 50% of his sentence before being eligible for parole, the release said.
