A Naperville man was arrested on charges Tuesday that he burglarized a home on the same block on which he lives, Naperville police said.

Officers responding to a 4:36 p.m. call about a break-in occurring in the 2900 block of Stonewater Drive arrived to find the residence empty.

However, it was determined the suspect entered through an unlocked first-floor window and surveillance video led them to Johnny Lee Robinson III, 29, who lives in the 2900 block of Stonewater, the police report said.

Robinson was taken into custody at his home and charged with felony residential burglary. “Suspected proceeds and other evidence” were recovered during the arrest, the report said.

Robinson is being held in the Will County jail pending a bond hearing. According Will County Sheriff’s Office records, he was out on $6,750 bond in connection with a 2019 charge for driving on a suspended license when arrested Tuesday.

There are also burglary and criminal damage to property charges pending against him in DuPage County stemming from a March arrest in Naperville.

Robinson was found inside the Jay Food and Liquor store, 535 Fairway Drive, armed with a crowbar that police said had been used to break the business’ glass backdoor.

When Robinson failed to appear in court July 16 for the case, a warrant for his arrest was issued and his bond forfeited, circuit clerk’s office records show.

His next court date in that case is scheduled for Aug. 19.

Robinson also owes $1,781 in court costs and fines from a conviction in a 2018 Naperville case in which he was charged with driving without insurance, improper turn and expired license plates, DuPage court records show.
