Dedication of Papanos garden to be held July 30

A dedication ceremony for a new garden honoring the late Chuck Papanos will be held at noon Friday, July 30, just west of the Grand Pavilion, 912 Sindt Court.

The garden was planted for Papanos, who was operations manager for Naperville Park District’s north parks and the Riverwalk and died last year from T-cell lymphoma.

Among the facilities Papanos helped oversee were Centennial Beach and the Nike Sports Complex and he worked on such events as the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair, the Sprint Triathlon and the Healing Field of Honor at Rotary Hill.

Park district Executive Director Ray McGury and Papanos’ wife Ann Marie will be among the speakers at the pubic ceremony.
