Is it springtime in Chicago yet? The snow is melting, the tree sap is flowing and the city is clearing out your shoveled street parking “dibs” items

— and things are expected to get even warmer, at least for a few days, forecasters said Thursday.

After a cooler end to the week with highs in the 40s, temperatures are set to rise beginning Sunday, with a high in the 50s, according to the National Weather Service. Things are expected to stay on the warm side through Wednesday with highs in the upper 50s, said Rafal Ogorek, a meteorologist with the weather service’s Chicago office.

“Most locations should be flirting with the 60s by early next week,” the weather service said Thursday on Twitter, alongside some wide-eyed emoji. Temperatures by the lakefront are expected to stay slightly lower, according to the weather service.

Later next week, expect some rain, Ogorek said.

“With this particular system, this time, I don’t think we’re expecting any snow,” Ogorek said. “Currently, our forecast is all rain for the Wednesday through Thursday time frame.”

But that doesn’t mean Chicago is done with snow.

“We still get a couple of wintry systems that affect us in March or April,” Ogorek said. “We can’t rule out that we’re completely done with snow yet for this winter.”
