
Residents in Leyden Township, which includes Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park and more, will be voting for Leyden Township trustee candidates in the April 6 consolidated election, in addition to candidates running unopposed for township supervisor and highway commissioner.
The township also includes parts of Bensenville, Rosemont, Melrose Park, Norridge, Northlake, Park Ridge and unincorporated areas.
Leyden Township will elect a new supervisor, as Joseph Thomas, who was first elected to the position in 2013, did not file for reelection, according to township administrator Greg Ignoffo. Rocco Biscaglio is running unopposed for township supervisor.
Highway Commissioner Vince Fiorito, who has been in that post since 1996, according to the township website, is running as one of the five township trustee candidates, so voters will also be asked to decide the new highway commissioner position. John E. “Bucky” Bjorvik is the only candidate who filed for the race, according to Ignoffo.

For the four trustee positions, voters will decide between five candidates, three of whom are incumbents.
Andrew Charles Kopinski, one of those candidates for Leyden Township trustee, is also running for Norridge village trustee in the April election. Leyden Township trustees Ronald Klinger, William Otte, and Nick Pecora are all running for reelection. Trustee Rodney Tole did not file as a candidate.
Clerk Jamie Losurdo and assessor Al J. Biancalana are also up for reelection and are running unopposed.
