Chicago police have released a picture of a black Jeep wanted in connection with the October homicide of a 32-year-old man in the Roseland neighborhood on the city’s Far South Side.
The victim, Deshawn McKinney, was in the passenger seat of a 2016 black Chevrolet Equinox parked in the 11400 block of South Calumet Avenue about 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 24 when the killing happened.
When a woman who had been behind the wheel of the Chevrolet was getting out of the vehicle, someone inside a passing southbound black Jeep SRT opened fire, hitting McKinney multiple times to his body and damaging the Chevrolet, police said.
McKinney, who was of the same block where he was shot, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the attack, officials said.
An autopsy the next day determined McKinney died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
