Like her other family members often are, Kourtney Kardashian is on the receiving end of social media scorn and internet ire.
The reality TV star was recently slammed for reportedly spreading a “ridiculous” COVID-19 face mask conspiracy theory, which hasn’t been supported by any scientific proof.

The eldest sister of the controversial clan reportedly took to her Instagram account and shared an image of a blue surgical mask along with a note that the mask can cause life-threatening health risks, which was captured in a screenshot that has gone viral.
The 41-year-old mother of three said that the “blue masks” are made of: “PTFE, a carcinogen made of synthetic fluoride.”
“According to Cancer.Org it increases the risk of liver, testicle, pancreas, kidney & breast tumors + ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, preeclampsia and high cholesterol,” she continued to her 102 million followers.

There was no article link to accompany the Instagram Story, which further stated that the masks could ultimately lead to “suffocation” and was accompanied with a wide-eyed emoji and a head-exploding emoji.
PTFE is an acronym for polytetrafluoroethylene and is a man-made chemical that can be found on household items such as nonstick pans.
“There is no evidence to support the claim that the presence of PTFE in a mask causes cancer,” American Cancer Society chief medical and scientific officer Dr. William Cance reportedly stated.
Another medical expert took Kardahsian to task — in a not so delicate fashion.
“It’s one thing for a random people on social media to claim that masks cause cancer… it’s another for @kourtneykardash to be doing so on her Instagram stories to >100 million followers,” British surgeon Dr. Joshua Wolrich lamented on Twitter.
On Instagram, the London-based doctor doubled down on Kardashian.
“I refuse to beat around the bush about this. @kourtneykardash how DARE you mislead people and suggest that wear a mask causes cancer,” he captioned his original Twitter post.
“As doctors we have been wearing fucking masks for decades, can you even hear how ridiculous you sound?! MASKS SAVE LIVES. By posting dangerous misinformation to your millions of followers you are now going to be directly responsible for people’s deaths. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Fucking fuming.” ?????????
Wolrich encouraged other to report Kardashian’s Instagram Story, which is no longer available on the platform.
He concluded his post: “This is not virtue signalling or some attempt at clout. This is serious.”
The Kardashian-Jenner family has already been criticized for hosting large social gatherings during the pandemic.
Supermodel Kendall Jenner recently faced blowback for hosting a Halloween/birthday party, in the midst of a global pandemic.
Kim Kardashian West (who sells face masks through her SKIMS shapewear company) was lambasted for hosting an over the top 40th birthday beach getaway that took place at Marlon Brando’s lavish resort in Tahiti.
