Republican Deanne Marie Mazzochi said Wednesday her opponent in the election for state representative of the 47th district, Jennifer Zordani, conceded to her.
In unofficial results, with all the precincts in DuPage and Cook counties reporting, Mazzochi had 54.6% of the vote and Zordani, a Clarendon Hills Democrat, had 45.4%.
Zordani did not return calls for comment.
The 47th district includes Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, parts of Western Springs and Willowbrook.
Mazzochi said she was “very deeply appreciative” of the people in her district who wanted to send her back to Springfield to help the state get its fiscal house in order. She has been very vocal about the need for greater fiscal responsibility at the state level and the need for ethics reform to end corruption.

As an incumbent since July 2018, Mazzochi has been at the forefront of issues in her district, such as pushing for Sterigenics, which uses ethylene oxide to sterilize medical equipment and other products, to close its two Willowbrook plants, which happened last year.
Mazzochi also has sponsored legislation to give more local control over the installation of 5G wireless equipment. Residents in Western Springs and Hinsdale have opposed 5G antennas in their neighborhoods because of the potential impact on health and property value.
“I’ve spent an incredible amount of time and effort understanding the wants and needs of the people in our district,” she said. “I will represent those in Springfield, making sure to be their voice and their vote.”
Mazzochi is an attorney specializing in life sciences law, the pharmaceutical industry, patent litigation and regulatory counseling.
During Zordani’s campaign, she said, if elected, ethics reform would be a top priority for her.

Zordani said residents of the 47th district told her “equality, restoring our middle class, supporting small business growth, protecting public education and balancing the budget” were important to them.
Zordani is a financial services attorney representing trading firms, brokers and advisers.
