A 15-year-old from Darien is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on charges he sold LSD to an undercover officer.

The DuPage County State’s Attorney Office said the teenager has been charged in juvenile court with illegal delivery of a controlled substance, a felony, and illegal possession of ammunition, a misdemeanor.

The DuPage County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, investigating drug trafficking, became aware the juvenile might be selling LSD, a hallucinogenic also known as acid, the state’s attorney reported.

An official of the group, known as DuMeg, bought 200 LSD tablets from the juvenile on Oct. 28, county officials said in a statement. Officers also found the boy had ammunition without a valid Firearms Owner Identification card.

Associate Judge Anthony Coco on Oct. 29 ordered the juvenile to remain in police custody until his next court date, Nov. 5.

“DuMEG’s LSD seizures have increased 100 percent since 2017,” DuMEG Director Andrew Anselm said in a statement. “The availability and quantity of LSD seized is concerning. DuMEG (agents) will continue to work diligently with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and member police departments to combat illegal drugs sales in DuPage County.”
