A person was shot multiple times while traveling in a vehicle on I-57 on the city’s Far South Side, officials said.

It happened in the southbound lanes near 111th Street, and all lanes in that area remained blocked as of about 5 p.m., according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper.
The victim, a male of an unknown age, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition after the attack, which happened about 3:40 p.m., said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
He was shot multiple times in the chest, Langford said.
