Not only did the Chicago Bears’ fortunes improve when Nick Foles replaced Mitch Trubisky at quarterback in the second half Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, so did their Chicago-area TV ratings.

The 30-26 road victory on Fox-32, which lifted the Bears to 3-0, averaged a season-high 24.6 household rating in their home market.

That translates to 24.6% of homes with TVs in the area, or a little more than 800,000 homes, according to Nielsen estimates.

Ratings surged late when Foles came off the bench and led the Bears on a 20-0 run to overtake the Falcons for the victory. Local ratings peaked at the end, between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m., at 28.2.

The Bears averaged a 23.9 household rating in the Chicago area for their season opener versus the Detroit Lions on Fox-32, then dipped slightly to 23.6 in Week 2 against the New York Giants on CBS-2.
