A 45-year-old woman who was found with bubble wrap and a seat belt wrapped around her head early Friday on the South Side suffered multiple injuries in an assault, officials said.
Police were called to a vacant lot in the 1500 block of West 79th Street about 12:55 a.m. and found the still-unidentified woman inside a vehicle with a seat belt and the bubble wrap bundled around her head and neck, according to Officer Steve Rusanov, a spokesman for Chicago police.
She was pronounced dead at 1:37 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Friday determined she died of multiple injuries from an assault, according to the medical examiner’s office, which ruled her death a homicide.
Area Two detectives are investigating but no arrests have been made.
