Weekly confirmed coronavirus cases in Kane County increased by 507, health department data released Monday shows.

The 507 COVID-19 cases from Aug. 3 through Monday is an increase from the 491 cases the previous week, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Overall, the county has recorded 9,875 cases as of Monday.

Coroner Rob Russell, meanwhile, reported two more COVID-19 deaths over the past week, continuing the local decline in fatalities.

On Wednesday, a 69-year-old Elgin woman living at home died due to COVID-19 at Advocate Sherman Hospital, according to the coroner’s office report. And on Saturday, a 95-year-old Elgin woman living at home died from COVID-19, also at Advocate Sherman.

Aurora continues to have the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county at 3,932, followed by Elgin, with 2,245. If Cook County numbers are added to the total, the number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Elgin is 2,988, data shows.

Other smaller Kane County communities near Elgin report much lower case numbers. Carpentersville had 942 positive cases as of Monday; St. Charles, 591; South Elgin, 435; Geneva, 297; Batavia, 237; West Dundee, 61; and East Dundee, 29.
