Two men were killed in separate incidents in Chicago Heights last week that have since been ruled homicides.

The victims, a 42-year-old South Chicago Heights man and a 22-year-old Chicago Heights man, died two days apart, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Chicago Heights police did not respond to requests for comment on either man’s death.

The 42-year-old, identified as Jermaine Fleming, was shot in the head at 200 E. 14th St. on April 14 and died two days later at University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The 22-year-old man, identified as Kijuan Hollins, died two days after that at Franciscan Health hospital in Dyer, Indiana, following an incident at Joe Orr Road and Cottage Grove Avenue, according to the coroner’s office.

The coroner ruled Hollins’ death a homicide, but has not yet determined a cause of death, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
