The Barrington School District 220 Board of Education approved an increase in fees for the district’s kindergarten enrichment program during a Dec. 17 meeting.
Barrington’s standard kindergarten program follows a half-day model. But the district also offers a Kindergarten Enrichment program, which allows students to attend class for a full school day.
“We need to make sure we’re clear on what the fees are going to for the parents next year enrolling students in kindergarten,” Superintendent Brian Harris said.
Kindergarten enrichment program fees will increase next year based on the Consumer Price Index of 1.9%. This means the cost for the program for the 2020-2021 school year will be $3,640, or $67.
“Even with our fee adjustment we are still less than other local providers,” Craig Winkelman, assistant superintendent of K-12 and operations, wrote in a Dec. 11 proposal regarding the fee.
