An employee was injured after getting trapped in a machine at a Geneva business Friday morning, Geneva Fire Department officials said.

The fire department responded at 6:28 a.m. to a call of an employee trapped in a machine at Power Packaging in an industrial park on Pillsbury Drive east of Kirk Road, according to a press release from the department.

First responders were told that a woman had been trapped in a conveyor belt assembly. The company’s maintenance staff was successful in disassembling the machine and removing her prior to the fire department arriving on the scene, officials said.

Geneva Fire Department paramedics administered medical treatment to the employee at the scene and then took her to a nearby medical helicopter. She was airlifted to an area trauma center for further medical treatment, according to the release.

The patient’s condition and extent of her injuries were not available.

The Geneva Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the St. Charles Fire Department and the Geneva Police Department.
