Five hearts that were found Friday morning near the Chicago Theater in the Loop belonged to animals, officials said.
A maintenance person found the organs in an alley behind a building in the 100 block of East Benton Place about 9:30 a.m. and called 911, Chicago police spokeswoman Karie James said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office was called to the scene and the hearts were examined and found to be non-human, said an office spokeswoman.
“They are real hearts,” she said. “It’s an animal.”
