One child and eight adults were taken to area hospitals Friday because of high levels of carbon monoxide at a building on the city’s West Side, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The incident happened Friday morning in the 600 block of North Sawyer Avenue in East Garfield Park, said Larry Merritt, spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.
All nine were taken to hospitals, where their conditions were stabilized.
