Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. in Des Plaines, for the 28-year-old officer and father of three who would have celebrated his first wedding anniversary next month.
After an 11 a.m. Monday funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Chapel in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine at Maryville Academy, 1170 N. River Road, also in Des Plaines, Jimenez will be laid to rest during a private ceremony.
Jimenez was picking up mail for his police district when he saw the police response at the hospital, 2525 S. Michigan Ave., around 3:20 p.m. and headed straight there to help.
Within minutes of arriving at the lobby, he was shot in the neck by Juan Lopez, 32, and later was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center
