The same man is suspected of pistol whipping and robbing at least two people about a block apart Wednesday night in Lakeview, Chicago police said.

Around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, the man, wearing a red baseball hat and long-sleeved shirt with buttons, robbed people in the 1600 block of West Waveland Avenue and 3700 block of North Marshfield Avenue, according to police.

He approached each person while they were alone, showed them a silver handgun, demanded their property, and hit them in the head and face with the gun, police said. Then he walked or ran away.

One of the people he robbed thought a black Ford Escape was following the man, police said.
