Montgomery police wrote 14 tickets for people using illegal fireworks to celebrate the July 4 holiday season.

The tickets came from a total of 58 complaints received by the police from residents concerned about people using fireworks.

Montgomery Deputy Police Chief Armando Sanders said a community meeting held a few weeks before the holiday helped get the word out to the community that the police would be watching for illegal use of fireworks.

Sanders said in addition to the tickets some 15 warning citations were issued.
