A 40-year-old Antioch man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of drug-induced homicide in connection with the overdose death of a 19-year-old woman in his basement last year.

Timothy Irving entered the plea before Lake County Circuit Court Judge Theodore Potkonjak, who scheduled an initial trial date of May 23 and a status date of June 18 for Irving, according to Assistant State’s Attorney George Pappas.

According to Deputy Chief Geoff Guttschow of the Antioch Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Joren Trail on Nov. 30, 2017, at 11:41 a.m. for an unresponsive female who was suspected of suffering from a heroin overdose.

The woman was found in the finished basement of the home and was identified as Tehya E. Lundstrum of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Guttschow added.

She was transported by Antioch Fire Department ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy including toxicology tests conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s office concluded that Lundstrum died from a toxic combination of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine.

Antioch police detectives were able to determine that Irving allegedly provided the drugs to Lundstrum, and a warrant for his arrest was issued March 19 by a Lake County judge, authorities said.

Irving was then arrested by Antioch and Gurnee police March 31 as he was leaving Gurnee Mills Mall after investigators learned he was there, according to police.

Drug-induced homicide is a class X felony, carrying a mandatory sentencing range upon conviction of six to 30 years in prison.

Pappas said Irving remained in Lake County jail Thursday in lieu of $500,000 bail.
