Shannon Kearney, a senior member of the Loyola Academy girls swimming team, has been selected as the December baiduhai North Shore Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.
Kearney placed second in the 100-yard backstroke at the girls swimming state meet on Nov. 18 at New Trier’s Winnetka campus. She touched the wall in 53.90 seconds. The North Carolina State recruit also placed 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (23.66).
“It’s an honor to be recognized by COUNTRY Financial,” Kearney says. “This award represents the hard work by all of my teammates. Thank you to COUNTRY Financial for supporting student athletes and their programs.”
About her season, Shannon adds, “I’m so happy how we did it as a team. It’s such a community.”
Raffi Bereliani, a COUNTRY Financial representative in Skokie, presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Loyola in recognition of Kearney’s achievements. Kearney will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.
