Q: Where did you grow up and go to school?

A: I grew up around Diversey and Monitor. I went to Steinmetz College Prep. My family moved, so I graduated from Foreman High School.

Q: Where do you currently reside?

A: I live in Harwood Heights.

Q: When did you want to be a beautician?

A: When I was about 25, I was working in a bank as a teller. I knew I didn’t want to be a teller my whole life. So, I got my beauty license to be a beautician.

Q: Where was your first job?

A: My first job was at Elizabeth Arden at the Red Door Spa on Michigan Avenue.

Q: When did you open your first salon?

A: In 1980, I opened a shop in Oak Park and I was there for 10 years. Then, I owned a salon on Harlem. I stayed there 25 years. Today, that area is the Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market’s parking lot.

Q: When did you open your shop on Diversey?

A: I opened my shop on Diversey six years ago.

Q: What services do you offer?

A: We offer all different services except nails. We do perms and cuts and we also cut men’s hair. I have a girl that speaks Spanish, too.

Q: When is your salon open?

A: We’re open Tuesday through Sunday.

Q: Do you have special promotions in 2018?

A: We’re always welcoming new customers.

Q: What do you like about serving the Elmwood Park neighborhood?

A: I’ve been in this neighborhood for 25 years. The location is very nice, and the people are very nice. It’s close to my house, which is why I wanted to stay here.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I like to go to movies. I like to go downtown. I’m still a downtown girl at heart! I like plays.
