Two French architects are the winners of the 2018 Richard H. Driehaus Prize for traditional architecture, the University of Notre Dame, which administers the prize, announced Wednesday.
Marc Breitman and Nada Breitman-Jakov, whose designs range from homes to neighborhoods, will receive the $200,000 award in a March 24 ceremony in Chicago.
In its citation, the jury for the prize praised the Breitmans for “breathing new life into beloved and time-tested architectural and urban patterns.” The husband-and-wife team work out of Paris as Breitman & Breitman architects.
Sponsored by Chicago investor Richard H. Driehaus and awarded annually to a living architect, the Driehaus Prize was established in 2003 to honor traditional and classical architecture. Previous recipients include the American architects Robert A.M. Stern and Michael Graves.
