Not only do weddings notoriously come with a lot of planning, but big days tend to also come with a lot of “stuff.” The invites, the food, the flowers, the favors — all add up rather quickly.
So, what if you’re concerned about the sustainability of all that “stuff”?
Here in Chicago, the Green Wedding Alliance takes aim at that issue. It’s a local nonprofit organization that, per its website, “connects … environmentally and socially responsible event vendors with the conscious consumer for mindful weddings, commitment ceremonies, and social events.”
If you’re a conscious bride- or groom-to-be, you’ll be able to easily find many of the Alliance’s preferred vendors at its annual event, Committed, from noon to 3 p.m. Jan 21. More than 20 attending vendors include a bevy of florists, caterers, planners, musicians/DJs, invitation-makers and photographers. They will all be setting up camp at Greenhouse Loft (2545 W. Diversey Ave.) ready to help sustainable lovebirds plan their big day.
The listing makes a point to say the event is inclusive to all couples. Couples are encouraged to bring friends and family as well. Tickets cost $10 for a single person and $15 for a couple.
