Actress Selma Blair was arrested late Sunday after her Delta flight touched down at JFK following a reported inflight meltdown in which she allegedly bit a flight attendant and tried to open the plane doors.
Law enforcement was called to John F. Kennedy International Airport at about 11 p.m. to address a “physically abusive passenger” aboard Delta Airlines flight 938, which had taxied to the gate after flying in from Los Angeles. Two flight attendants were injured, and one of them was evaluated at a hospital, law enforcement sources told the Daily News, identifying Blair, 54, as the passenger in question. One flight attendant had bite marks and another had a laceration, according to law enforcement sources.
Blair was taken into custody and to a hospital for evaluation, the sources said. While in the ambulance, she kicked a police officer in the head, TMZ reported. At the hospital she assaulted a nurse, who is pressing charges, the outlet said.
She has been charged with two counts of assault, on a police officer and a nurse, TMZ said.
Chaos erupted on the flight when Blair allegedly tried to wrench open the plane door, then punched one flight attendant and bit another as they and other crew tried to stop her, according to TMZ, citing audio it obtained. The audio also indicates the “disruptive passenger” hit her head against a bulkhead.
Blair’s rep told TMZ her client had suffered a “medical emergency.” As of Monday she was still hospitalized, TMZ noted.
The actress had a similar meltdown in 2016.
