Detectives are warning people in the Near West Police District about two armed robberies that occurred this month on the city’s West Side.
At about 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 20 in the 800 block of North Washtenaw Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, a 26-year-old man was approached by men who showed a handgun, police said. The robbers took his cash and other assorted items, and then fled in a vehicle.

A similar robbery that appears to be part of the same pattern happened at 11 a.m. on Nov. 17 in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. A 31-year-old woman had her cell phone taken.
Two or three men aged 18 to 22 committed the robberies. Police did not release a detailed description of the robbers.
