Trying to plan a dinner for a group of friends can be a balancing act. Finding a spot suitable for everyone’s diet and demeanor, where you can actually get a table large enough for a big party, in an establishment that handles group dining effectively—the variables are numerous.
To that end, reservation service OpenTable has crafted its own list of “100 Best Restaurants for Group Dining” in the United States, released last week, and 11 Chicago-specific restaurants make an appearance on the list. The results are based on diner reviews left with OpenTable, according to its press release, using more than 10 million reviews collected between Oct. 1, 2016 and Sept. 29 of this year.
The release states the restaurants had to meet a minimum score, and those restaurants were scored and sorted based on what percentage of the reviews selected “great for groups” criterion on OpenTable.
If you’re an avid diner in the city, most of these names won’t surprise you, but there are a couple spots that you might not have known were quality options to take friends or family, or both.
