Michael Dudek is 100 years old and resides in Elmwood Park. He said he likes living in Elmwood Park because of the community.

Q: Where did you go to school?

A: I went to Foreman High School.

Q: What year were you born?

A: I was born in 1917. I am going to be 101 in January.

Q: What is the secret to living to 100?

A: I don’t want to tell anybody because then it won’t be a secret! I would say staying away from alcohol and smoking.

Q: How long have you lived in Elmwood Park?

A: I have lived in Elmwood Park for 54 years.

Q: What made you originally want to move to the area?

A: I had a couple of friends that lived in the area, and they recommended it to me.

Q: Are you married?

A: I was married for 67 years. My wife passed away when she was 94, in 2011.

Q: How many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren do you have?

A: I have two sons. I have seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Q: What did they do to celebrate your birthday?

A: For my 100th birthday, I went to my son’s house for a party.

Q: How is Elmwood Park different from when you first moved there compared to now?

A: Today, it’s a little quieter. I like living in Elmwood Park.

Q: Why do you like living in Elmwood Park?

A: Everything I need is in my neighborhood. I don’t have to go too far for anything.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I used to go bowling, dancing, playing softball and going golfing when I was younger. Now, I’m too old, and I have sore knees.
