Montgomery officials are looking at a $56 million plan to build an apartment complex with 468 units in the village.

Preliminary plans were unveiled recently to members of the Montgomery Planning Commission for the project to be built near the Ogden Hill subdivision. The complex would be called Montgomery Place Apartment Homes and is being developed by S.R. Jacobson and Edward Rose & Sons.

The units would come with one to three bedrooms, and include garages. The price has not been finalized but developers say monthly rents would range from $900 to $1,400.

The 13-building development is proposed along Reading Drive between the Oswego Library District’s Montgomery campus and Goodwin Drive.

Russell G. Whitaker III, an attorney for the developers, said the project is in keeping with Montgomery’s master plan. He also said the developer has a long history of successful projects.

“Edward Rose & Sons is a Michigan family that has been in business since 1921. Over the past nine decades they have built 85,000 residential units. Today they are the 12th largest developer of multifamily units in the country,” he said.

Whitaker said the proposed buildings would feature pitched roofs with varying roof lines. The exterior building materials would be composed of a mixture of brick and siding and feature balconies, patios and a variety of window treatment designs.

Montgomery Planning Commission members unanimously approved the project. It will now move on to the Village Board for discussion.
