Jane’s, the Bucktown restaurant open since 1994, abruptly announced its imminent closure, with a final service starting Friday through the weekend.

An early, casual, chef-driven pioneer of so-called “clean” and vegetarian comfort food, Jane’s is best known for its spinach and feta omelet, vegetarian corn chowder and burgers, both beef and house-made quinoa and vegetable.

Housed in a historic painted brick building built in the 1890s, in 2005 the restaurant expanded, doubling in size, to offer a private party space called The White Room.

Calls seeking more information have not been returned.
