United Airlines is adding new flights to Hawaii from four cities, including Chicago.

United will have nonstop flights between Chicago and Maui five days a week starting Dec. 20. Chicago-based United currently only flies that route on Saturday, in addition to daily nonstop flights to Honolulu. The Chicago to Maui flights will not be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Nationwide, United added more frequent flights on 11 routes connecting hubs in Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago to various destinations in Hawaii.

United also will be making it easier to get some shut-eye on overnight flights to Hawaii, at least for passengers at the front of the plane.

Starting this summer, United will have lie-flat seats for premium cabin customers on all overnight flights between Hawaii and Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark, N.J., and Washington, D.C. Those passengers also will get Saks Fifth Avenue duvets and pillows, perks also offered with United’s Polaris business class service on long-haul international flights.

Most of the longer overnight Hawaii flights already have lie-flat seats, including those from Newark and Washington and some Chicago flights, said United spokesman Jonathan Guerin.
