While sitting with his dogs April 15 in Scoville Park, Brandon Peters, 32, of Oak Park, answered a few questions for the Oak Leaves.

Q: What brings you out to the park today?

A: The weather, and the dogs like to come over to the park.

Q: How long have you lived in Oak Park?

A: We’ve been here three years, and live across the street. Coming over to Scoville with the dogs and hanging on a bench, we do that often.

Q: Favorite local restaurant?

A: I would say my favorite is Khyber Pass. Cucina Paradiso, Maya Del Sol: there’s tons of great places.

Q: I notice your accent. Where are you from?

A: Texas. I moved to Chicago six years ago, live in the West Loop and bought a condo out here. We plan to be here a while. I came up here for work after graduation. As people visited, we would do Frank Lloyd Wright stuff here and we fell in love with Oak Park.

Q: Anything you miss about Texas?

A: All my family’s there. But the food — Tex-Mex, barbecue — I miss.

Q: Last movie you saw?

A: It was at Lake Theatre. “Get Out.” It was actually a really great movie.

Q: What breed are your dogs and what are their names?

A: They’re Shih Tzus. Theodore and Franklin.

Q: Are you a fan of the Roosevelt family?

A: Actually, Theodore is named after the Chipmunks [laughed], and then we just came up with Franklin. Theodore is 9, and Franklin is 5. They generally don’t have interest in other dogs. They tend to go to people for attention.
