I was very proud when my mother, Anisha Patel, announced that she would be running for the Arlington Heights District 25 School Board. As a student, I think that she would be very helpful on the school board for many reasons. She is an amazing leader. She has founded both InnovusEd, a company that assists teachers in their work, and The Education Conversation, a YouTube project devoted to talking about teaching. She has given an innumerable amount of speeches about various topics. She has joined many leadership teams, such as WomenED US and has even been chosen to go to a White House reception, which I think is really cool!
The second reason that I think she would be great on the school board is because she does a lot of community service. She has gone all the way to Washington D.C for the Women’s March, volunteered for PADS, and has done the Hot Chocolate 15K to help refugee children.
I also am certain that she is an amazing educator, and has been in the teaching industry far longer than I can remember. She has been a teacher for elementary and middle school, made teacher training materials, been a part-time assistant principal, and has even taught basketball!
My mom would be an outstanding school board member for District 25. She not only has a large amount of teaching experience, but is also a great leader and does many service projects. She is truly a phenomenal woman, and would be the perfect Arlington Heights school board member for District 25.
