Chance the Rapper, a remarkably talented Chicago musician, has dived into the mess that is Chicago Public Schools. Following a meeting with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Chance said Rauner should “Do his job.” The problem here is that Rauner has been governor for about two years while the likes of Mike Madigan have been running the state for decades. Further, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is actually in charge of running the city schools, has been in office for over six years. Perhaps Chance should aim his well deserved wrath at the people who are truly responsible for driving the schools off of the cliff. (BTW perhaps the reason Chance doesn’t speak out against Mayor Emanuel is because Chance’s father works for Rahm. Just a guess…)
