Nelly Musso of Western Springs is a mom and former coach for the Lyons Swim Club.
Q: How long have you lived in Western Springs?
A: Fourteen years. My husband’s name is Scott. We have three kids.
Q: How long did you coach swimming?
A: For seven years. I grew up swimming. I swam in college. It was a sport I was involved with for a long time.
Q: Do you still swim?
A: My son who is 12 and I swim at a pool in Oak Brook just for fun.
Q: What was the hardest part of being a swimmer?
A: The hardest part is jumping into a cool pool. It just messes with you.
Q: What do you do now?
A: I’m a preschool teacher for the Oak Brook Park District. It’s just the best job. It’s so fun. You come in every day and they literally tell you they love you and they missed you overnight. Your influence is so visible. It’s so gratifying.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I used to sew my kids’ Halloween costumes. I like doing crafty things. Now my hobby is being a softball mom, a horseback mom.

Q: What’s your favorite restaurant?
A: I love Aurelio’s Pizza. We were raised on Aurelio’s. The one in La Grange has such a nice, friendly environment.
Q: Where do you like to vacation?
A: My husband’s family has a place in South Haven, Michigan. It’s home away from home.
Q: How many pets do you have?
A: A dog, three cats, a guinea pig, a bunch of fish and two horses.
Q: If you could have a super power, what would it be?
A: I think it would awesome to fly. I don’t like planes. But to control it would be awesome.
