With events including an interview of Alec Baldwin, “Saturday Night’s Live’s” designated impersonator of President Trump, Chicago Ideas has announced its new slate of spring programming.
Called the Curiosity Series, the handful of events runs from Feb. 23 to May 11, with “In Conversation: Alec Baldwin Beyond the Screen” taking place April 11. Tickets for that Athenaeum Theater event go on sale to members March 1 and to the general public the following day and will cost $40, which includes a copy of his new memoir, “Nevertheless.”
Begun by Groupon co-founder Brad Keywell in 2011, Chicago Ideas Week has presented a series of events each October involving entertainment and business personalities as well as on-site “labs” at area businesses. Its mission is “to drive meaningful change by sharing big ideas with as many people as possible.”
By planting its flag so firmly in the springtime events calendar — this is the second year of the Curiosity Series — Chicago Ideas joins the longer standing Chicago Humanities Festival as a fall-focused event that is spreading its programming across the months.
Other events in the curiosity series include “Reimagining Prison” (Feb. 23), and a March 27 event with Bassam Youssef, the Egyptian comic now living in the U.S. whose career was inspired by Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show.”
