The Gary Police Department has filed multiple charges against three men allegedly involved in crimes over the last two months, and they are searching for a fourth.

Gary Police spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield said in a release Thursday that Rickkie D. Carr, 22; and Javaris L. Harris, 19, of Gary; and Javon R. King, 18, of Gary and South Bend, were charged with committing an armed burglary Jan. 6 in the 1300 block of DeKalb Place.

The victim said the three men kicked open the door, pointed firearms at him and fled with property, Westerfield said.

Gary Police also charged King with a Jan. 8 shooting near East 35th Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, a release said. The victim told police King shot him several times when he dropped a woman off at a house in the area – first when he tried to leave in his car and then multiple times when the victim tried to get back in the house, the release said.

Additionally, Carr was charged in a Dec. 17 incident in which a man was robbed at gunpoint in the 4300 block of Louisiana Street, the release said. Carr fled with the man’s vehicle and other possessions, police said.

Carr, Harris and King are each charged with burglary, armed robbery, criminal confinement, pointing a firearm and theft in the Jan. 6 incident, according to Westerfield. A fourth man has yet to be identified.

King, meanwhile, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury for the Jan. 8 incident; and Carr is charged with armed robbery, criminal confinement and auto theft for the Dec. 17 incident.

The three men are known to have victimized people in additional cities, including a Jan. 7 incident in Portage, Westerfield said. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sgt. William Fazekas at 219-881-1210 or the Crime Tip Line at 866-CRIME-GP.
