Meghan Rooney of Hinsdale is a senior at Nazareth Academy who is hoping for a career in musical theater.

Q: What is the state theater production you were in?

A: I was in the Illinois All-State Production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival.

Q: What did you enjoy about being in the production?

A: I have never been part of a project with such a challenge vocally and technically in my life. There were days when challenges stared us right in the face but, as a team, we overcame them. This just made us closer and more determined to make it the best show it could be.

Q: What do you like about performing?

A: Theater has given me the tools to excel in life and in school; helped me to realize who I really am, and led me to inward reflection. I am more confident sharing my story and being myself because of theater, but also eager to hear about the lives of others and be there for support when needed.

Q: What are your college goals?

A: I am auditioning for musical theater major right now. I hope to continue learning about this art form for those for four (college) years and beyond. I’d also like to do theater professionally or teach in the future.

Q: How many siblings do you have?

A: Two. My sister, Nora, is a junior at Nazareth Academy and my brother, Michael, is a freshman.

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: “White Christmas” whether it is the holiday season or not. It’s been my favorite since I was really little.

Q: What super power would you like to have?

A:I would want to be invisible. I think that would come in handy sometimes and just be fun to just observe situations.

Q: Who should play you in the movie?

A: Emma Stone

Q: Who is your hero?

A: I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing parents and grandparents, but my hero is my grandma. She was born in Ireland, and moved away from her family at 17. She was the only from her family to go to the U.S. She settled in Chicago and made it on her own. She met the love of her life, my grandpa. She also raised seven successful and faith-filled kids
