Here’s our a hit-list for food-oriented therapy this weekend
1) Snag your fall veggies
Just in time for cooler temps, the Green City Market has moved indoors at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Confirmed vendors for the season include Gayle’s Best Ever Grilled Cheese, Jake’s Country Meats, Bushel & Peck’s and more. Now’s a time to start thinking about the holidays, and chef demos throughout the indoor season teach you how to make full use of market products. Free to attend. Select Saturdays and Wednesday through April at 2430 N. Cannon Dr., www.greencitymarket.org
2) Pair vinyl with vino

Join the roving Wine & Vinyl happy hour when it sets up shop at Andersonville’s Appellation. The monthly event, founded by DJ Kevin Hsia, invites attendees to bring their own records, which he’ll mix into the night’s fun. Besides its standard bistro fare and wines, Appellation will offer light bites and wine specials. RSVP early for a glass of wine on the house. $5. 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 at Appellation, 5212 N. Clark St., 773-358-7181, www.pastoralartisan.com/appellation
3) Celebrate independents day

Single and proud not to mingle? Round up three of your friends to celebrate Chinese Singles’ Day with Mott St. The event — celebrated in China by young people proud of their singledom — is also a huge consumer holiday. Mott St. combines the two with a feast of 10 decadent courses. Think bone marrow, dumplings, whole fish, rib-eye and more. Parties of 4 only; reservations required. $80 per guest; optional wine pairings ($78 per guest) include Grand Cru Champagne. Friday, Nov. 11 at 1401 N. Ashland Ave., 773-687-9977, www.mottstreetchicago.com
4) Get your brunch on

Looking for a new brunch spot? Roscoe Village’s newish Bangers & Lace has started brunch service with some upgrades to the standards. Avocado toast gets the homemade bread treatment with a fluffy house focaccia and caramelized onion jam, while the BLT is reimagined with duck sausage, tomato-bacon chutney and garlic aioli. Drinks also focus on that leisurely in-between meal, with a selection of brunch beers and cider on tap like Ballast Point’s Grapefruit Sculpin and Vander Mill’s Totally Roasted Cider. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at Bangers & Lace, 1851 W. Addison St., 773-697-8667, www.bangersandlaceroscoevillage.com
5) Go hog wild

Pig out at Wrigleyville’s newest spot, Myron Mixon’s Smoke Show Barbecue. Starting Thursday and running through Saturday, chef Myron Mixon (the self-proclaimed “winningest man in barbecue”) is cooking a whole hog for guests. Enjoy unlimited swine while eating your fill of hush puppies, potato salad and even baby back mac. $50; reservations required. 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12 at Myron Mixon’s Smoke Show Barbecue, 3801 N.
