A 33-year-old La Grange man was killed in a one-car accident in Western Springs early Wednesday.
Western Springs police said Matthew Talley was killed after he struck two utility poles in the 4400 block of Gilbert Avenue.
Police responded to the accident at 12:18 a.m. and found a man unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the 2014 Ford Focus. It was apparent that he had life-threatening injuries, police said.
Talley was transported to Loyola Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Several pieces of utility poles that had been on the west side of Gilbert Avenue and downed wires were found in the roadway, police said.
Police said several residences in the area lost power and ComEd continued to work Wednesday afternoon to restore power.
