Brian Urlacher did not want to select a favorite player on the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
“All of them,” he said. “If you’re on the U.S. team, I like you.”

Urlacher spent time at Medinah during the week of the U.S. meltdown in 2012, and he was at Hazeltine National on Wednesday, mainly to promote a show he’s doing in conjunction with Wilson Golf called “Driver vs. Driver.” The seven-episode series debuts Tuesday on Golf Channel.
The show awards $500,000 to whoever designs the best driver. Urlacher, a 4-handicap who bombs it 290 to 300 yards at Scottsdale National, his home course in Arizona, helped narrow the competition.
Urlacher, who does a Thursday night show on CSN Chicago called “The Hard Count,” took it easy on his former team, saying of the Bears’ loss to the Cowboys: “They didn’t look bad Sunday night, I didn’t think, as bad as people made it out to be. Their offense looked good. They’ve got some good young players. I like the running back, No. 24, (Jordan) Howard. (Brian) Hoyer looked good. Their offensive line played OK. They just had a little hard time on defense.”
That’s like saying the U.S. has had a little trouble of late at the Ryder Cup. Europe has won six of the last seven.
Asked what he would tell the U.S. players to fire them up, Urlacher said: “Play hard, man. I don’t know. I wasn’t a big speech guy for football, so I wouldn’t be a good vice captain.”
