Nineteen alumni from the Lake Forest High School Class of 2016 were honored with a place on the Images of Excellence mural on Sept. 2.
The latest version of the two-story mural located on the west side of the administration building was unveiled during Friday’s football game. Giant photographic images of the students will hang on the wall for the next year.
Brian Vandenberg, then president of the Lake Forest High School Boosters, came up with the idea in 2011.
“He was sitting in the stands and looking at the ugly west side of the building and thinking wouldn’t it be great to beautify that a bit and portray the accomplishments of the students,” said Sheila Cavalaris, current Boosters president.
Some of the students, such as the student council president and class president, are automatically included in the mural, Cavalaris said. Others, including senior athletes, apply directly to the Boosters.
The following students from the class of 2016 are included in the Images of Excellence mural: Mariel Aquino, Jillian Barrere, Anika Boyd, Danny Carollo, Matthew Clifford, Katie Condon, Cal Coughlin, John Michael Diveris, Jake Durburg, Lorenzo Edwards, Quinn Julian, Reilly Lanigan, Grant Levin, Katelyn Lochiatto, Grant Messner, Alessandro Ragnelli, Nicolette Stern, Adrian Walker and Emily Young.
